Editing photos of people is something that can seem hard to do but with a little practice and these tips, you’ll be a pro in no time!
When you first open up a program like Photoshop, the sheer number of options that are available can seem daunting in and of itself. The good news is that you don’t need to have a Master’s degree in graphic design or be a professional photographer to be editing photos of people. With just a little bit of know-how, you can be editing photos of people that end up looking pristine.
Start by simply opening up the Photoshop program. Opt to click on the “File” option, then open the folder where your image is being stored. Select your file and confirm that it is the exact image that you want to be working on now.
First try to objectively assess what you want to change about your photograph. Take care of the basics first. Many photographs need to be cropped to take out something unsightly or to bring the focus of the image to just one person. If you need to crop your photo, click on the toolbar at the top of your screen. Select the Crop tool, then choose the exact area that you want to retain for the main body of your picture. Press Enter/Return to activate the cropping of the picture.
Now you have your main canvas, a photograph that still could probably use some improvements. You’ll next want to use the Spot Healing brush with Content Aware Fill to do small touch-ups to the picture. To do this, first make sure that Content-Aware is checked in your settings, then select the Spot Healing Brush. Adjust your brush size so that it is just a tiny bit wider than you need to cover any flaws or imperfections. Try brushing over flaws with a light touch. One stroke may completely do the job in most cases.
Photoshop offers a wide array of options for touching up pictures. Keep adding to these basic skills, and you’ll soon be impressing friends with your perfect photos. Be sure to check out our other tips on the blog!
