What kind of license(s) are my images sold with?

Most of the images on SnapMarket are sold with our royalty free license or an editorial use only license. Our royalty free license means a user can purchase and download an image and use it as many times as they like. A user can use a purchased royalty free image for domestic or commercial use in online, offline and print media. A user CANNOT re-sell or distribute your image but they CAN use it in works to be sold such as: website templates, greeting cards, products, calendars, etc. An editorial use license means that a buyer can only use your image for personal or editorial use, an image will be marked as editorial use only if it contains distinguishable people (celebrities), products, brands or trademarks. If you do not agree with these license terms, please do not upload your images to SnapMarket. Please read the next question for more information on Editorial Use Only licensed images.

Why has my image been marked 'For Editorial Use Only'?

Some of the images on SnapMarket will be marked as 'Editorial Use Only'. These images must only be purchased and used for editorial or personal, non-commercial use. Images which contain distinguishable brands, logos, trademarks and known people (celebrities) will be classed as editorial use only images. SnapMarket will be in no way responsible for the misuse of images purchased from it's site. If you would like your image to be licensed as a usual 'royalty free image', it must be edited to a point where any subjects in the image are no longer recognisable as the brand, trademark or business in question.

What is a model release?

A 'model release' is a legally binding contract between a photographer and a human model used in a photo. Basically it is a written contract that the model gives permission to the photographer to sell or use the images in a certain way. Please see the next question for more information on whether you need a model release for your photo.

Do I need a model release for photos with people in them?

Yes, any images where a person can be identified by their face, body, clothing, tattoos or any other distinguishing features must have a model release, even if it is a photo of yourself. You can upload your filled out model release forms when uploading your images. If you have multiple images with the same person in each of them, you must attach a model release form to each one. Just to be safe, it is best you obtain a 'model release' for ANY images you photograph with a person in them, even if it is the back of them or just a silhouette. Images where a person is unidentifiable like a crowd of people far away, or where a person is not the main subject of an image will not need a model release.

Not attaching a model release to any images containing a person will result in your photo being rejected.

Just to be safe, it is best you obtain a 'property release' for ANY images you photograph with a distinguishable property in them.
